About Discovery House Day Care Center
Discovery House Day Care Center gives the true meaning to family owned and operated. It was a dream come true for its owners, a mother and daughter team, who opened the center in 1975 with the idea that child day care and preschool could be a second home for kids. We knew that hugs are just as important as learning the ABCs! Since then Discovery House has thrived way beyond their expectations. The very children they cared for long ago are now enrolling their children! This truly makes Discovery House Day Care Center a large and wonderful family with a second generation!
Discovery House DCC is licensed by the state of Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and may serve up to 50 children ages 18 months through 12 years. We are open year round with hours of operation 6:30am – 6:00pm Monday through Friday.
Our Mission
Discovery House Day Care Center strives to provide a safe and loving family environment where the child care teachers know and understand each and every child’s abilities, character traits, and social-emotional needs. This makes the transition from home to school comfortable and gratifying. It also assures that children feel safe and very much at home. We maintain small group ratios to effectively meet the needs of each individual child as well as the group.
We believe that children absorb more information between the ages of 18 months to 6 years than they do the remainder of their lives. Discovery House teachers and staff aspire to be a large part of that development. Learning should be a fun and rewarding experience. Our day is arranged so that each child has an opportunity to explore many different areas of creative curriculum. Children should have ample time to learn through play and hands on activities. This provides the child with opportunities to succeed.
